The Awards win caps off a remarkable year for Howden: the firm placed 519 policies (178 policies in the UK) on 399 deals in 2019, with deal count increasing by 86% versus 2018 (214 deals). While Covid-19 has impacted domestic deal volume, Howden continued to drive innovations in the market to adapt to the current and anticipated needs of its clients, including the use of W&I insurance on secondaries transactions, and in the context of distressed/insolvent and public-to-private deals. Last year also saw further investment across the tax, title, environmental, contingent and litigation risk teams. Howden's multi-disciplinary teams combined with its advisory approach saw it mandated on some of the highest profile transactions in the market, including the largest deal ever to be insured, with an EV of €12.25bn.
